 Frequently Asked Questions

What is counselling and psychotherapy?
Please see the About Counselling & Psychotherapy page for more information.

Is counselling safe?
Counselling is a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment to explore your thoughts, feelings and any difficulties you might be experiencing in life. As a member of the BACP I adhere to a strict code of ethics that ensures that I am always working in your best interests.

Is counselling confidential?
Confidentiality is a vital part of therapy and the therapeutic relationship we will share. The only exceptions to this are if I felt another individual might come to immediate serious harm.

Where are you located?
Please see the Location page for more information.

What happens at our first meeting?
At the first meeting you will have the opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy, learn more about counselling and ask any questions you might have. We will talk about what you want to achieve from counselling and whether it will benefit you. The number of sessions will be discussed, some issues can be resolved in short term counselling (up to 12 sessions), whilst others may require longer term work.

Are you supervised?
In accordance with the BACP, I discuss my work with a counselling supervisor, in such a way as not to identify clients. My supervisor is bound by the same BACP code of confidentiality and ethics as myself.

Are you insured?
I have full professional indemnity insurance.

What are your fees?
Please see the Fees page for more information.

Is it possible to book a session before/after my work day or during my lunch break?
Yes, my city centre practice makes for an ideal location for those working in Leeds who wish to book an appointment before/after their work day or even during their lunch break.
